The children you see in the photo above are two of the most loved musicians of all ages. Almost impossible to recognize them in this image, which now dates back to many years ago. A long time has passed since then, and they have established themselves as two of the most requested characters of the world panorama. Their songs they have made entire generations dream, not by chance the band they play in has sold tens of millions of records. Small detail: they are brothers, both born in London in the borough of Islington, in the north. They knew the peak of popularity during the 1980s, when together with the other members of the band they contributed to the large-scale diffusion of a genre then unknown. Even today they are considered by all the greatest exponents, as they were among the first to bring a breath of fresh air in the standings thanks to experimental and avant-garde sounds for the time. “Raw”, “Higly Strung”, “I’ll Fly For You” and “Through The Barricades” are just some of the titles with which the band has depopulated in the radio, but there would really be many others.

The group in question are the legendary Spandau Ballet, which throughout the eighties were without exaggeration one of the bands most loved on the planet. Together with Duran Duran, Visage, Culture Club and others gave birth to that subgenre of pop we mentioned earlier that it was renamed by the specialized press “new-romantic“, a kind of electronic pop that also focused heavily on flashy costumes and flashy hairstyles.

The ones we show you in the picture are brothers Martin and Gary Kemp, who look a lot alike but are not twins. Together with the charming vocalist Tony Hadley, a Steve Norman e John Keeble gave birth to one of the most compelling musical novels of the 1980s. Martin, the bass player, has been married since 1990 to Shirlie Holliman, with whom he has two children. Gary, on the other hand, the guitarist, in the past was married to actress Sadie Frost, then to stylist Lauren Barber with whom he had three children. Today they both live in London and out of business with Spandau Ballet they both have a decent career in cinema.
