She postponed the decision to get vaccinated for months, but when the organizers of the Miss World contest finally ordered her to set a date for immunization against Covid-19, 21-year-old Dutch Dilay Willemstein did not make it and despite of the Miss Netherlands crown won in July and immediately shown off on social media with a lot of ballet, she preferred to call herself out of the final in Puerto Rico in December. Miss world, just vaccinated

“After I was crowned Miss Netherlands, I was told that if I wanted to go to Miss World, I had to be vaccinated,” Willemstein wrote in the post in Dutch (but translated into English). I thought about it carefully and considered the vaccine idea, but then I didn’t feel ready for it at all, I don’t feel good about it. I didn’t make this decision overnight, I still had months to think about it, so I kept putting it off ».

But then the organizers started pressuring her to set a date for the vaccination and at that point Dilay realized she couldn’t do what she was asked to do. “Winning the contest was the dream of my whole life – explained the beauty queen to the Sun – but not to participate in the final was my decision and I support it.».
