Everything we know about the the date of birth and death of Jesus is the fruit of a trivial and enormous error. Riccardo Galli on blitzquotidiano.it he calls it the “classic secret of Pulcinella”, given that scholars and even the Vatican are perfectly aware that our Christmas and Easter holidays actually have little or nothing to do with the real life of the alleged son of God. Even today it is debated on when to place exactly in time the birth and death of the ‘King of the Jews’.
Certainly there is that he was not 33 years old when he was crucified and was not born on December 25, 2021 years ago. “Fault of stories handed down, wrong calculations and still approximate mathematics”, writes Riccardo Galli, according to which Jesus should have been born between 6 and 7 BC: this is because certain historical sources say that Herod, king of Judea – who, having learned of the birth of a child who announced himself as ‘King of the Jews’, ordered to kill all children aged 2 and under – died in the year that according to current dating corresponds to 4 BC. Therefore Jesus cannot have been born after that date, but necessarily before.
Consequently, there was another error regarding death: the most probable date is set for 7 April of the year 30, with Jesus who therefore would have been 36 or 37 and not 33. Everything would start from a trivial error of translation of ancient Greek by Dionysius the Little, which he interpreted as “he was thirty years old” a phrase that actually translated “he was about thirty years old”.
