From Nazareth the prayer for the end of the pandemic

The prayer marathon in sanctuaries promoted by the Pope for this month of May makes a stop in Nazareth. It is in fact the Basilica of the Annunciation, the church called to lead today’s recitation of the Rosary that unites the continents in invoking from God the end of the pandemic and the resumption of social and work activities.

Almost needless to say that the sanctuary stands in the place where, according to tradition, the archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of God, receiving the most famous “fiat” in history. Thus the Gospel of Luke: «Then Mary said: here I am, I am the handmaid of the Lord, let what you said happen to me». In its current configuration, the basilica, built to a design by the architect Giovanni Muzio, was consecrated on March 25, 1969. Made of reinforced concrete covered externally with local stone, it is made up of a lower and an upper basilica, joined to the west in a single facade. In the lower Basilica there is the Holy Grotto of the Annunciation, the heart of the entire sanctuary. The upper Basilica is instead dedicated to Mary Mother of the Church.

The recitation of the Rosary from the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth will be broadcast all 18 on all official channels of the Holy See. Prayer will have special intention at the center for pregnant women and the unborn.
