The epidemiological situation in Italy continues to remain under control. The curve follows the usual ups and downs, between the “peak” reached in the middle of the week and then the descent at the weekend. Looking at the broader data, the best news comes from the fact that fewer cases of Covid have been recorded compared to the same day last week. Furthermore, the pressure on the national health system is quite low, thanks above all to almost 80 percent of vaccinated people with two doses.
The bulletin today, Thursday 23 September, issued by the Ministry of Health gives an account of 4,061 infected, 5,466 recovered and 63 dead compared to 321,554 swabs analyzed, with the positivity rate that was detected at 1.3 percent (-0.1 compared to yesterday). As for hospitals, today the balance of hospitalized in Covid wards is -146 (3,650 beds currently occupied) while that of the hospitalized in intensive care is -8 (505) with 30 new entries.
In the meantime, the vaccination campaign: a total of 83,192,028 doses were administered. The citizens who received the second are over 41.5 million (almost 77 percent of the population over 12). Speaking of the under, the general director of Ema Cavaleri has made it known that “to date no request has been received for the extension of a Covid-19 vaccine in children under the age of 12. Ema expects Pfizer to present data on children aged 5-11 in early October and Moderna in early November ”.
