3 regions in the red zone and almost all of Italy orange in the new EU map

Improve the situation in Italy compared to last week, in the map updated to 16 September 2021 of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

Today they are found in red zone only 3 regions, compared to 6 the previous week, only a region continue to stay in green area, while all the others are in orange. So let’s see what the situation is region by region.

3 regions in the red zone and almost all of Italy orange: the EU map

The number of red regions in Italy on the ECDC map decreases from 6 to 3 thanks to the relegation of Tuscany, Sardinia and the Marches, while Valle d’Aosta continues to be the only region in green. All the others are instead in the orange zone. Let’s see what the situation region by region:

  • Regions in red zone: Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata.
  • Regions in orange zone: Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Trentino Alto Adige, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Marche, Lazio, Emilia Romagna, Umbria, Abruzzo, Puglia, Campania, Molise, Sardinia.
  • Regions in green area: Valle d’Aosta.

Although in general in Italy the situation has slightly improved compared to the previous week, the picture continues to remain critical in some regions of the South, such as Sicily, now in the yellow zone since 30 August according to the parameters of the Italian government and Calabria, which it could end up in the yellow zone from next Monday.

It is important to remember that ECDC maps are published weekly with the aim of providing support for the recommendations of the European Council for Member States to adopt a coordinated approach on travel rules.

The situation in Europe

Taking into consideration the situation in Europe it can be seen that even in the Iberian Peninsula the situation has improved slightly, with one region that has returned to green in Spain, after several weeks spent in red, while the Portugal continues to remain in orange. Also in France the red areas decrease to make room for the orange and in Greece the dark red areas disappear permanently.

The situation is different in Germany, where the red zones have increased compared to the previous week, as well as in the Baltic republics, now all in red. Slight improvement also in Scandinavian peninsula, now almost all in orange. In green instead only theHungary, the Czech Republic and the Poland.
