Switzerland supports Indonesia in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and will send 600 oxygen concentrators to the Asian country, for a total value of around one million francs.
A Swiss cargo plane took off from Zurich to Jakarta on Saturday, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) said. In addition to the oxygen concentrators, the cargo also includes medical protective equipment, i.e. more than 12,000 suits and more than 45,000 masks.
The equipment will be received in Jakarta by local authorities, then sent to various sites. The Swiss Embassy is in close contact with local authorities to ensure that these goods are distributed fairly and as needed.
Confederation aid responds to a request from the archipelago authorities, says the FDFA. This is the sixth delivery of humanitarian material from Switzerland abroad since May, for a total amount of more than 15 million francs.
