New Nvidia GPU models, such as the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, were created in order to limit the cryptocurrency mining. This time, unlike what happened a few months ago with the RTX 3060s, it appears that miners are unable to get around this performance. In this way the hash rate of Ethereum and several other Altcoins has halved.
From the first analyzes made, it seems that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti guarantee a hash rate of 57MH / s. This is a far cry from the 120MH / s of the RTX 3090, but also of the 85MH / s of the RTX 3080, technically inferior GPUs. These neutered results hold true for Ethereum, the second most popular cryptocurrency in the world after Bitcoin, but also Ethereum Classic, Ergo and RavenCoin. One coin that doesn’t seem to be hit by the limit, however, is ConFlux.
The miners tried in different ways to get around the block, including trying to use the official Nvidia drivers that had bypassed the 3060 block, imposed by Nvidia itself …
In this way, the tech giant is trying to limit the attractiveness of the new mining cards. A practice that, with the arrival of the controls “proof-of-stake of the new version of Ethereum, it may become superfluous, as it will no longer be necessary to mine to obtain new coins. A factor that could free GPUs for playful and professional uses.
