Xbox Game Studios’ lavish signing campaign, which peaked with the acquisition of Zenimax, Bethesda and all their studios for $ 7.5 billion, may not be over yet. Rumors about it have been circulating for quite some time, but they are back in vogue in these hours thanks to the statements of Jex Corden.
The WindowsCentral reporter, notoriously close to the world of Microsoft, has heard rumors that Redmod’s house would get their hands on some IPs (not belonging to the triple A franchise), a ploy that would take place as part the acquisition of a new studio. Corden does not have concrete evidence, therefore he has not said he is 100% sure, in any case he appears quite confident about it. The announcement could take place next week, on the occasion of the Xbox and Bethesda conference to be held starting at 19 on Sunday 13 June as part of E3 2021.
The stage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo has already been chosen in the past for the announcement of major acquisitions – as happened in 2018 with Ninja Theory and 4 other studios, or in 2019 with Double Fine – so it is not excluded that it could happen again. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out if this is true or not.
