BORGO MANTOVANO. An afternoon match on the parish pitch, groups of young people from different countries who meet to have some fun, nothing official, nothing competitive. And then, the spark that makes a trivial quarrel degenerate into a real beating with four boys on one side who rage against one only on the other, beating and insulting him: a physical and verbal violence out of control and aggravated by hatred. racial. It happened on the afternoon of Tuesday 1 June on the Revere football field.
As often happens some boys had gathered, some underage, others in their early twenties. A joke on the pitch between two players, perhaps resulting from a foul: nothing serious, it could have ended there, as happens on all fields. But it doesn’t end there. Indeed, the simple and mutual exchange of bad words between two is intercepted by other boys on the sidelines who run to give support to one of the two contenders. The result is not a fight, but a real beating of five against one, kicks, punches, insults, Moroccan of m … shouts the pack against the 20-year-old boy, of Maghreb origins, grown up and perfectly integrated in the same municipality of Borgo Mantovano. Nobody has the courage to intervene, after all they are just kids. Somehow, however, the beaten twenty-year-old manages to get up and immediately runs to the police station, which by the way are a few hundred meters away. Tell it all and try to give as much detail as possible. But he doesn’t know all the boys who attacked him, he only knows that they should be from Ostiglia. Then he is accompanied to the Pieve hospital where he is kept for observation for the night: he has bruises everywhere, fortunately no serious trauma.
The mayor of Borgo Mantovano Alberto Borsari is also informed of the fact: «An episode that must be condemned, cannot be minimized. The general situation of discomfort that many young people are experiencing and have experienced in this year of isolation is worrying. We are also thinking as an administration, in the light of this and also of other anomalous situations, of organizing a cycle of meetings with young people, because what happens to them is everyone’s responsibility, of us adults in particular ».
