Although leading external development teams, Hideo Kojima e Jade Raymond they’re part of the big PlayStation Studios family, or at least that’s how he sees it Hermen Hulst, who talked about the collaborations for the new titles coming out on PS5 but also of those that occurred in the past.
Hulst said narrative-based single player games are in PlayStation’s DNA and that he holds Japan and Japanese developers in high regard, so his take on Kojima certainly doesn’t come as a surprise.
“These external collaborations are really exciting. Maybe a distinction can be made between the development teams that are part of Sony, such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Media Molecule, Sucker Punch and so on, and those who work with us as partners, see Haven and Firewalk Studios, but also studios that have collaborated with us over the years, such as Kojima Productions e From Software.”
“However for me in many respects there is no real difference: I consider them all part of PlayStation Studios. Ultimately we are a creatively-led organization, which I believe means we want to find the best development teams in the world and help them passionately realize their ideas. “
“What matters to me is that PlayStation Studios are a place where creators are allowed to join us and do the best work of their careers. That’s my goal.”
