Triumph Tiger Sport 660: data, price, photos – News

A few days after the teaser that anticipated it, here is on time Triumph Tiger Sport 660, crossover built on the basis of the Trident 660 which aims to quickly become the reference in the segment thanks to various technical solutions that make it absolutely unique in the world panorama, and which lead it to be attractive – in Triumph’s intentions, of course – for young people admirers of the brand, for those who get back on the saddle after a … pause for reflection but also, more generally, for those looking for a versatile, fun and accessible touring bike.

The engine is virtually identical to the 12-valve twin-shaft three-cylinder engine, operated by command ride-by-wire and with a six-speed gearbox mounted on the Trident, capable of 81 horsepower at 10,250 rpm but above all 64 Nm at 6,250. Performance that makes it the brightest in its segment – you can easily imagine the rivals – especially from a touristic point of view, when traveling as a couple with luggage, but also in sporty driving.

It is obviously Euro 5 approved, and can be reversibly weakened (i.e. it can be restored to its original performance through workshop intervention) to comply with the limits of the A2 license.

The chassis

Focused on a frame in steel tubes, with a double-sided swingarm in the same material, the chassis is designed to be dynamic but also easy and accessible when maneuvering from stationary or at low speed (the rider’s saddle is only 835 mm from the ground) thinking of riders who are not necessarily experienced. The suspension sector, all Showa, it counts on a 41 mm upside-down fork and a monoshock with adjustable preload.

The 17 “five-spoke aluminum rims with 3.5” channel fit Michelin Road 5 tires in 120/70 and 180/55 sizes at the front and rear respectively. The braking system consists of a double 310 mm discs with dual piston calipers at the front and a single 255mm disc at the rear.

The tank has a capacity of 17.2 liters, which given the average consumption of 4.5 liters per 100 km determines an indicative range of over 350 km and brings the curb weight to 206 kg. The windscreen can be adjusted in height even on the move (one hand is used) and the supports for the rigid side cases (available, together with the 52-liter top box capable of holding two full-face helmets, in the same color as the body) are integrated into the tail.

Electronic management

The Tiger Sport 660, like the Trident after all, is at the state of the art as regards the electronic management. Let’s start with the multifunction color TFT dashboard, which integrates that My Triumph connectivity that allows for simplified navigation implementation turn-by-turn, remote control of the GoPro, listening to music and smartphone management.

Two riding modes available (Road and Rain) for the aforementioned system ride-by-wire which work with the support of the traction control (which can be deactivated) and the power assisted slipper clutch. The headlights are naturally full-LED, with self-deactivating turn signals.

Versions, colors, availability and price

Three colors are available for the Triumph Tiger Sport 660: Lucerne Blue / Sapphire Black, Korosi Red / Graphite and the more discreet Graphite and Black. All three will be available at the dealership starting from February 2022 at 8,995 euros fc.

Scheduled maintenance intervals are provided every 16,000 km or 12 months, and in addition to the 2-year ex-factory warranty, Triumph Just Ride extended warranty is available for an additional 12 or 24 months. The list of accessories naturally includes many options to increase safety, comfort, luggage transport, aesthetics or performance.

In addition to the My Triumph Connectivity system, the range includes, for example, the Triumph Shift Assist bi-directional electronic shifting, the heated grips, the USB charging socket in the saddle, progressive direction indicators and tire pressure control. Luggage transport options include matching rigid side bags, top case for 2 full-face helmets, a waterproof roll bag and a practical aluminum luggage rack.

Just like for the motorcycle, all Original Accessories provide a 2-year warranty coverage, with no mileage limit.
