The mom’s family Eitan, the only child who survived the tragedy of Mottarone and brought in Israel from his maternal grandparents, he had accumulated approx 150 thousand euros with a fundraiser. The declared purpose was to support health and court costs, but in reality that money would have also financed the alleged kidnapping of the child.

The Peleg family had accumulated, with one online fundraising launched last July, a figure equal to 540 thousand shekels, just under 150 thousand euros. Through the specialized site ‘Giusmehalev’ (‘Enlistment of the heart’ in Hebrew), the family of Eitan’s mother had managed to reach the set goal on 22 July, also thanks to a post by Tali Peleg, the child’s maternal aunt. The site specified that everything was regulated by a contract and supervised by a lawyer, but the funds, as announced by the Peleg family, were used to support health and court costs as well as Eitan’s livelihood in Italy.
Three donors had retraced their steps, saying they did not agree with the purpose of the collection and were immediately reimbursed. Channel 12 reported today that now, after the latest developments, “many Internet users are furious and claim that the money would apparently finance the private flight back to Israel.” Another of these – according to the broadcaster – noted that “he did not donate money for this”. Canale 12 also added that he had contacted Ronen Tzur’s Public Relations Society – which represents the Peleg family – but that the latter declined to comment.
