The Maserati Grecale SUV it is certainly a particularly awaited model. It has recently been confirmed that the brand will also offer it in the sportier Trofeo version designed for those who really seek the best in terms of driving pleasure. The SUV has not yet been unveiled and we know that we will not see it until November when it will be officially presented. However, it appears that Maserati is already pursuing the development of the Trofeo model.
New spy photos of the Grecale show a car a little different from the usual and this would lead us to believe that it is the sportiest variant. The prototype, in fact, has larger rims characterized by a sportier design. Also, you can see the brake calipers which are red in color. The SUV also features a 4-tailpipe exhaust system with a new design. The photographer who took the photos then added that the engine sound was different from that of the tall prototypes seen so far.
Clues that would lead us to think that it is the Trophy version. There is still no precise information on the engine that Maserati would have decided to use for this sporty variant of the SUV. Currently, the Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte models in the Trofeo version use a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8. For many fans of the Italian brand it would be nice to find this engine also under the hood of the Grecale.
AVR A BITURBO V6?
However, this will probably not be the case. The SUV rests on the well-known Giorgio platform which is also used for the Alfa Rome Stelvio. Possible, therefore, that it is used the twin-turbo V6 with 2.9 liters of displacement of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio which, however, is able to offer very high performance. Once on the market, the Grecale Trofeo will have to deal with cars of the caliber of the Porsche Macan. As mentioned at the beginning, the presentation of the new Maserati model is expected in November. It is not clear, however, if the Trophy variant will be immediately available or if it will be presented later.
