From Thursday 1 April new rules have come into force in the world of cycling. The UCI has in fact established some very important prohibitions: there has been talk of many of the various forbidden positions (the “Froome” one downhill, but also the time trial one during road trials), but it must also be remembered that for four days it has not been possible to throw away the water bottles during the races. The reasons are environmental and health, but cyclists have not yet managed to get used to it.

From 1 April, in fact, a runner can throw the bottle only in the so-called green zone (with personnel dedicated to the collection of water bottles) or must return it to the flagships. The Tour of Flanders 2021, second Classic Monument of the competitive year, was the first important race to be held with the new regulation (after the Indurain GP staged yesterday) and the judges operated the first disqualification for irregular throwing of the bottle. It was the Swiss who paid the price Michael Schaer, standard bearer of the AG2R Citroen La Mondiale.

The judges, however, did not disqualify Kasper Asgreen and Mathieu van der Poel: the winner and the runner-up, in fact, have launched the water bottles about ten kilometers from the finish ”. However, the disqualification for the Dane and the Dutch did not come. Below is the VIDEO of Michael Schaer’s disqualification
