The expectations created by the inaugural round last week have been greatly reduced at Avintia for Enea Bastianini. The reigning Moto2 world champion aimed to be an active part of the fight for the Q2 pass, but a technical problem slowed his Desmosedici thus relegating him to 19th position on the starting grid of the Doha Grand Prix.

“We had a bit of a problem – commented Enea – The PL3 did not go badly and also in the PL4 we managed to improve quite a lot. Unfortunately, however, in Q1 we had a hitch at the exchange; I had to go back and wait for the second bike to be ready. So I lost some time and in two laps I couldn’t get the feeling to set a good time. I’m sorry because I am sure we would have moved on to Q2, but now we will think about the race: we will try to start strong so as not to find too much traffic in the first laps ”.
L’Top-10 goal therefore remains at the top of Bastianini’s thoughts: “It wouldn’t be bad to be able to do a race like last Sunday. We have the potential to do it and I’m sure we can have a good pace and finish in the ten. There have been improvements, even if the sensations are a bit worse due to the lack of grip on the track and the conditions in general. Until this moment everything is rowed against us“.
