PESCARA – Today 2 April is the World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD, World Autism Awareness Day) established in 2007 by the UN General Assembly. Tonight in Pescara, accepting the invitation of the FIA (Italian Foundation for Autism ) the Civic Tower was illuminated in blue.
Blue is the color chosen as the symbol of the campaign, to identify the various events and initiatives related to this theme and scattered throughout Italy and the rest of the world. A symbolic gesture to draw attention to the rights of people with autism spectrum disorders and those of their families.
According to the National Observatory of the Ministry of Health for the monitoring of Autism Spectrum Disorders, in our country autism affects one child in 77, in the age group from 7 to 9 years. Males are predominantly on the autism spectrum, with an incidence 4.4 times higher than females.
