Enea Bastianini skips the Thursday scrum due to vaccine hangovers. The Esponsorama team rider suffered from fever and vomiting during the night.
On Wednesday, many riders and technicians in the MotoGP class received the second dose of the vaccine. A risk that someone, like Alex Rins and Suzuki staff, did not want to take. Not so much because they are against the vaccine, but to avoid possible unwanted effects at the turn of the second Grand Prix. In fact, for some, not everything went smoothly.
Enea Bastianini was expected this morning for the usual scrum with journalists. But he had to forfeit, as his manager Carlo Pernat explains: “Bastianini cannot do the scrum because last night, after the second dose of the vaccine, he and his girlfriend have a fever and are locked in the room. They had some vomiting during the night. It should pass, let’s see how it points …“. His presence at the Doha Grand Prix is not in question. “I can certainly improve in qualifying – he said yesterday ‘Beast’ -, since I was out of Q2 for 5 thousandths. In the race we hope that I will be able to put the lowering device on, so I start a little stronger. The procedure can be reviewed in free practice. This bike is quite physical, halfway through the race I had to push and struggled a bit“.
At the moment there is no news on the conditions of the other riders, but we hope that everyone can safely participate in the next MotoGP weekend. Marc Marquez also flew to Doha for the second dose of Pfizer vaccine. Both the team and the driver preferred not to advertise too much his landing in Qatar. For him there is no pit stop to closely follow the work of Stefan Bradl and Pol Espargarò. He will return to Spain immediately to continue his rehabilitation and training ahead of the third round in Portimao scheduled in two weeks.
