“Johann Zarco’s 362.4 km / h? Numbers already seen in a private test. The Ducati Desmosedici can also reach higher speeds” – So Ducati test rider Michele Pirro commented on the record set last weekend in Losail from Johann Zarco’s bike. A statement issued to the Gazzetta dello Sport, with Pirro explaining that the potential of the Reds, in absolute terms, is decidedly even higher. “In Qatar – he said – the straight is just over a kilometer and the previous corner is slow. It means that in about 800 meters you go from 80 to 360 km / h. With an extra 500 meters of acceleration, it’s easy to imagine what numbers this could be. If you give these bikes space, if you lengthen the ratios and if you don’t have to worry about cornering, you can easily pass 400 km / h. Indeed, if this year we manage to win something important, I ask Gigi Dall’Igna to be able to launch me on some two or three kilometer runways, perhaps at an airport, to see how fast the Desmosedici is coming ”.
A purpose of no small importance, with the same Pyrrhus who also explained why the power is somehow “limited”. In fact, there is not only speed, but this must be harmonized with the possibility of managing the bike as easily as possible in the most driven points of the circuit, with the threshold of 370 km7h which, however, may not be an illusion. At least according to Pirro, who already imagines the sensations of absolute adrenaline that the Ducati riders will be able to enjoy at Mugello (holes, which Pirro knows well, permitting). Apart from records, speed is undoubtedly one of the strengths of the Red, with Gigi Dall’Igna who, in a recent interview, stated that the merit is not just the engine. The Desmosedici, in fact, can count on aerodynamic solutions which, according to Dall’Igna himself, “Ducati’s opponents will take time to copy”.
