Aston Martina has formalized the engagement of 33-year-old German Nico Hulkenberg, who has already raced in Formula 1 with the team as Force India and Racing Point
Nico Hulkenberg finds F1 again, albeit as a reserve driver and test driver. This was announced today by Aston Martin, who has signed the German for the current season.
Hulkenberg is at home to the former Racing Point and Force India team, for which he raced between 2012 and 2016, as well as three GPs in 2020, when he replaced Covid-positive Sergio Perez in the two Silverstone races and Lance Stroll in the race at the Nurburgring.
The 33-year-old German driver has 176 races to his credit including those with Williams, Sauber and Renault. “It’s nice to be back in the team – said Hulkenberg – of course I hope Sebastian and Lance never need my replacement role this season, but the team knows they can count on me. I can’t wait to give my contribution to help the team grow ”.
