Vaccines for children, starting in July in Piedmont. Cirio: there is an agreement with pediatricians, we are ready

Piedmont will start vaccinating children from July. This was announced by the governor Alberto Cirio today, after the approval in the council of a resolution that incorporates the agreement between the Region and pediatricians for the administration. “This morning – Cirio explained in this regard on the sidelines of the ribbon cutting of the new intensive care beds at Mauriziano – we approved the resolution that regulates the relationship between us and free-choice pediatricians. And next week a last meeting is scheduled. with pediatricians to refine the logistical aspects “.

“For the beginning of July – underlined Cirio – the vaccination of children can start. We made the formal step today, and then there will be the substantial step that will be done next week. In fact, there is a technical problem to be solved. membership on the portal, because parents must adhere with the child’s tax code, and consent must be given by both. In addition to the health aspects, there are some logistical issues to manage, but we are perfectly on time “.

That of children is not the only open front on the issue of vaccines. The reason for the cuts on summer supplies, guarantees on future ones. These are the two issues that Cirio wants to address with General Figliuolo tomorrow in Rome. It is the third meeting, after the one in early May preparatory to the visit of the general in Piedmont in the middle of that month, for the opening of the Lingotto vaccination center which marked the change of pace in the regional vaccination campaign which has now exceeded 3 , 3 million doses administered, with one million Piedmontese who have completed the vaccination cycle.

Machine that now risks a slowdown after the commissioner structure announced a scissor cut at the Pfizer doses that will be delivered in the coming weeks. “At the moment we guarantee our target, with 37-38 thousand vaccines per day – explains President Cirio – and this is the pace we must keep to reach, at the end of August, the target of 5.5 million doses injected. they give us more, we will do more because we can reach 70-80 thousand doses a day. The count of the 715 thousand Pfizer doses, which the Region will have available in July, is in fact a far cry from the one million per month promised and arrived in June. Part of the one million and 100 thousand doses that will arrive by the end of the month will in fact be used in the following days, and therefore can be counted among the doses available in June, but, according to the prospectus delivered to the Crisis Unit, compared to the 250 thousand doses received on average each week in this month, from 8 July there will be supplies of 139 thousand doses at a time.

In short, a slowdown, despite the fact that President Cirio still asked the local health authorities to maintain an average of 37-38 thousand vaccines per day to guarantee the appointments already planned and not to slow down the vaccination machine too much. For this reason the governor wants to know, from General Figliuolo, the reasons for the cut and to have guarantees that there are no others.
