In a few hours, the online petition launched on Change.org by Vanessa Rinaldi to ask the Mayor of Milano Sala and the Lombardy Region to save the green oasis of via Rizzoli has exceeded 800 signatures.
“In Milan in Via Rizzoli, at street number 20, there is an extraordinary green area, an oasis out of time made up of thirty-year-old gardens in part usucapiti, a regularly registered feline colony and a dense undergrowth that is home to numerous species plant and animal, including many hedgehogs. It is a precious green lung for Milan ”, reads the incipit of the petition. But “the municipal council approved the expropriation of the non-usucapite gardens, the eviction of the feline colony and the reclamation of the area, and then created a cycle path surrounded by tame greenery, which would not even come close to the splendid characteristics of what is now ”.
A choice that worries the authors of the petition, since it would damage an “ecosystem in balance in the worst period of the year, when the trees are teeming with nestlings and the bushes are home to the dens of hedgehog mothers”.
Hence the appeal to the Municipality and the Region: “we ask that this area be protected in all its components: gardens, hedgehogs, bird nests, cats, hens with their chicks, butterflies, plants and insects”.
