After months of confrontation, often tight, on Wednesday the center-right untied the knot of the candidate for mayor of Rome: a civic profile, the administrative lawyer Enrico Michetti, suggested by the leader of FdI, Giorgia Meloni, who managed to converge the allies on the choice of Mr. Wolf with quality problem solver, also known as a commentator of Radio Radio. The agreement provides that the favorite of the other parties (Lega and FI), the juvenile judge Simonetta Matone, runs in ticket as vice-mayor. The agreement was reached not without tensions – on Tuesday Meloni had again urged a decision quickly – with a solution that tries to preserve the balance between the political forces: if it is true that the chosen one in the FdI quota, which holds the golden share, Matone’s candidacy acts as a counterbalance either because he is considered more authoritative for his prestigious curriculum or as a woman (card to be played in the eventual duel against Virginia Raggi).
Born in 1966, Michetti has fought in recent months against the restrictions of the pandemic and on vaccines said: Men like cows, vaccines like doping, Italy like East Germany, only to change my mind an hour laterpO. Another expression that has caused discussion is that on the Roman greeting, more hygienic in times of social distancing due to Covid. Nobody would have bet that in the end he would have checked it on other names and instead he always appeared calm. And for, as an admirer of the pax augustea, convinced that even in the climate of an election campaign and in the challenge to climb the Capitoline hill, Rome needs a united effort to overcome the crisis and restart with momentum: I am happy and excited, grateful for the trust shown in these days, for the affection received – his words -. Now is the time to give back to the eternal city what it deserves, the role of caput mundi.
