This is a “historic turning point for the South”: the Salerno-Reggio Calabria is among the works that will follow the simplified procedures provided for by the Simplification Decree
The feasibility projects of the first two lots of the seven total of the line ad High Speed Salerno-Reggio Calabria will be completed by the end of 2021, while the projects for the rest of the lots will be completed by June 2022. The seven planned lots are: the first from Salerno a Battipaglia, the second from Battipaglia a Beach, the third from Praia a Marquetry, the fourth from Tarsia a Cosenza, the fifth from Cosenza a Lamezia Terme the sixth from Lamezia Terme a Gioia Tauro the seventh from Gioia Tauro a Reggio Calabria. The line is 445 km long and seven functional lots are planned. For one part, the High Speed line is in common with the Battipaglia-Potenza Taranto.

When this lot is built, which does not bring great benefits although we are trying to improve the route and also bring it to the Tyrrhenian side, the travel times to the locations on the Ionian Sea will improve in an incredible way. As travel times we are talking about times greater than 90 minutes “. Lot 1 of Battipaglia-Praia and lot 2 of Praia – Tarsia have already been financed, as well as the new Santomarco gallery. This set of projects are part of the package financed with the resources that are now present and in the contractualization phase with RFI.

In the past legislatures, no one had actually embarked on the path to bridge the territorial gap that divides our country in two because the political will to actually grow the South was always lacking and growth in the South is achieved first and foremost by infrastructures.
