The Plastic Factory, was released on May 20, 1996. Its author came from the triumphal success of Destination Paradise, an unsurprising pop ballad with an easy melody, perfect for getting a place in the sun in radio programming and to win the hearts and ears of teenagers. That was the Gianluca Grignani that everyone knew. No one would have ever imagined a second disc so unsettling in the sign of visceral rock, an electric album characterized by distorted guitars, dark atmospheres close to grunge and psychedelic escapes.
A record against homologation, even musical, an extreme change of course, which Grignani paid in terms of sales and popularity, but which certainly substantially increased his credibility as an artist. From the title track a More famous than Jesus, passing through the extraordinary melodic line of The hallucination, all the songs on this record travel at a very high level. From the point of view of writing, but also of performance, of the choice of sounds. Now, 25 years later, that album, misunderstood but very inspired, will be celebrated with an ad hoc concert in which The plastic factory it will be played from start to finish along with other hits from Grignani’s repertoire.
A great opportunity to listen to live a handful of songs that were and are fully entitled in the history of Italian rock.
