There is also the mayor of Molfetta, Tommaso Minervini, among the suspects in the investigation of the Prosecutor of Trani which at dawn on Tuesday 8 June led toarrest of 16 people on charges of corruption for alleged bribes linked to the assignment of procurement of Common. Minervini, head of a center-left junta supported by the Democratic Party and some civic lists, was not reached by a precautionary measure but is under investigation for disturbed freedom in the procedure for choosing the contractor. The operation was carried out in the provinces of Bari, Barletta-Andria-Trani and Foggia by the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza: 41 suspects among entrepreneurs and public employees, of which 34 are individuals and 7 companies. Of these, 16 were joined by a precautionary detention order ordered by the judge for the preliminary investigations of the Trani court.
They ended up in prison the former municipal councilor for public works Mariano Caputo and former councilor Anna Sara Castriotta, the municipal official Orazio Lisena and seven entrepreneurs and designers: Riccardo Di Santo, Andrea Ladogana, Valerio Di Gregorio, Domenico Tancredi, Paolo Conforti, Francesco and Pasquale Ieva. Under house arrest the president of the tender commission of one of the managed contracts, Vincenzo Manzi, and 5 other entrepreneurs and employees of the companies involved: Francesco Sancilio, Mauro Giancaspro, Michele Palmiotti, Maurizio Bonafede, Vito De Robertis. The investigation concerns the tenders for the renovation of piazza Aldo Moro, interventions at the headquarters of the former cement plant, road works and those for the monitoring service of the port waters: for all the alleged crimes are, for various reasons, auction disruption, corruption, forgery, misdirection and embezzlement.
The facts disputed to the suspects date back to the period between 2018 and 2020 and, according to preliminary information, the 16 are held responsible for “Multiple cases of corruption”: according to the Prosecutor of Trani between July 2018 and August 2020 the Municipality would have unduly proceeded to direct assignments without making the tenders, favoring entrepreneurs “friends”, in exchange for money and favors.
