ROMA – Volleyball.it advances confirmed. The president of Rona Volley Antonello Barani explains why the team will not be entered in the next A3.
“I am really sorry to announce that there are no longer the conditions to continue the adventure in Serie A. It has been six years of commitment, sacrifices, passion, victories and defeats. Six years in which I gave my all to deliver to the city of Rome a team that lives up to the name they have sewn on the shirts. But continuing like this is impossible. This is also a defeat for the capital, I did everything in my ability and beyond. Now I can no longer take on this enormous economic responsibility alone ”.
“In these years – continental Barani – I have tried every day to build a project of sport, inclusion, enhancement of the young people of our city because I have always been convinced that the capital should also focus strongly on other sports in addition to football. I asked the institutions for support to identify a space that would become the home of Roman volleyball, I presented dozens of projects and made hundreds of meetings but nothing ever materialized. In Rome, for a Serie A team, it is difficult to find a place even where to train. In Rome, except in rare cases, you are not alongside entrepreneurs who aim to promote and implement a project. In Rome you must have the economic strength to do everything by yourself. Instead of teaming up between institutions, companies and sporting realities, everyone runs alone, but history tells us that alone they do not win. Bringing back the name, prestige and charisma of the capital is a collective challenge, not a solitary one. Our sister, the women’s Roma Volleyball team, who has an important opportunity in Serie A1 and to whom I wish only the best, has found the union of other realities in the area, thus creating a system “.
“Here – conclude Barani – I like to team up. I have tried over the years, drawing on my personal resources, but today I have nothing in my hand, so I prefer to take a step back, starting from where I started, from Serie B, to dedicate myself to building more solid foundations, to develop with other associations a youth sector that is up to this city and then to bring the men’s team back to the top. I hope that there is really a serious contribution from the whole city because Rome also needs to be the sports capital of Italy ”.
