Closed since the lockdown, the capital’s 150 senior centers will reopen on July 1st. It was decided by the Capitol: the Capitoline Council approved the memorandum which confirms, pursuant to national legislation, the possibility of reopening them, thus welcoming again the over 65 thousand members: therefore, recreational, social, cultural and information activities will return, always in the compliance with current health and contagion prevention provisions.
The reopening is foreseen by the Law Decree n. 65 of 18 May 2021. On Monday 7 June the Department of Social Policies will send a circular to the Municipalities, with useful information to guarantee the safe reopening of the centers in the relative territories.
«The social centers for the elderly represent an important point of reference for citizens of the third age, among the most tried by the consequences of the distancing measures made necessary by the pandemic. For this reason, based on the national legislation we wanted to give an impulse to the Municipalities to take the necessary actions to reopen these structures safely, always in full compliance with the foreseen prevention measures »said the mayor Virginia Raggi.
