A seventeen-year-old from the Ivory Coast, residing in Santa Teresa di Riva, crashed around 1 am with his scooter into a ravine between the bends of Via Roma, in Taormina. The young man was rescued by the Catania firefighters who used the AB 412 helicopter for the rescue. The boy, harnessed after the first treatments, was then transported by helicopter rescue to the Cannizzaro in Catania, where he is hospitalized in serious condition. Personnel from the Alpine Fluvial Team (Saf) of the Messina provincial command, the Taormina detachment and Palermo SSPR personnel, as well as the police were also present.
