In Rome, Capri and New York «Le conversazioni», a festival directed by Antonio Monda and Davide Azzolini, now in its sixteenth edition, «Desiderio / Desire» the fil rouge chosen for the meetings: craving and irrationality, sexual attraction, conquest of power and money, or illusion of contentment? But also, in a positive sense, vital impulse, desire for knowledge and aspiration to the universal. The kermesse, after Rome, will reach Capri with meetings in Piazzetta Tragara and Anacapri with appointments at Villa San Michele. Closing in December in New York.
In Rome the festival will open at Palazzo Merulana, on June 16th at 6 pm Antonio Monda will talk with Chiara Valerio and on the 23rd the guest will be Teresa Ciabatti. International guests return to Capri on the two weekends of 25-27 June and 2-4 July (7 pm). On Friday 25 in Piazzetta Tragara, the Ethiopian naturalized American writer Maaza Mengiste opens, in the evening after Margo Jefferson, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer for the best critical journalism; on the 27th Abigail Dean, British lawyer and writer.
At Villa San Michele at 7pm on the 29th the British journalist and writer Candice Carty-Williams, on June 30th, at 7pm, Paolo Giordano, the only Italian guest. We return to Piazzetta Tragara on 2 July with the French writer and screenwriter Olivier Guez, on 3 the Irish writer and literary critic Colm Tóibín, on 4 July the famous American illustrator and writer Brian Selznick.
The festival then returns to the US in December, with a conversation at the New York Historical Society with journalist and cultural critic AO Scott.
