The Pandora’s box has opened on the case of Denise Pipitone and now new useful ideas are emerging for the investigation of the Marsala prosecutor’s office. The dramatic story that sees a missing child as the protagonist, on 1 September 2004 in Mazara Del Vallo, takes center stage in all television broadcasts. So many old elements that observed now seem to reveal a mystery within the mystery. About a month after her kidnapping, on October 18, 2004, Denise was caught by a security guard in Milan who, noticing the similarity, made a video with her cell phone. Some fragments have been taken into consideration by the investigators but the traces of the girl and the woman who was next to her disintegrated shortly after the sighting of the man on duty.
In Quarto Grado, we return to talk about that recovery where we see a little girl sitting next to Roma who were begging for alms. Guest in the studio is the author of the film, Felice Grieco, who begins as follows: “I want the truth about Denise”. To the microphones of Gianluigi Nuzzi’s program, after 17 years from that video he confesses: “I went to the carabinieri for a complaint. A few days ago I had a report from a lady who wants to remain anonymous, she sent me a link to an article about Roma. There were people and among them I recognized the woman from Milan, the one who accompanied little Danàs. It’s unmistakable, I remember the faces. I immediately reported to those in charge and formalized the recognition hoping to be able to trace that woman in the video ”.
Grieco does not seem to have many doubts about the identity of the Roma who accompanied the child in the video, certain that he recognized her. Several times, regarding the video of October 2004, the former security guard reiterated: “For me it was her. I called my wife first, immediately after the police and asked to be able to intervene with an excuse, but I was told to wait their intervention. I also made the famous video, I told myself that at least in this way they had a face to recognize, to control. ”Testimonies that now more than ever seem to outline a complex and articulated situation, immersed in the mystery and inconsistencies of the stories. while Denise’s searches continue, the Marsala prosecutor has entered Anna Corona and Giuseppe Della Key in the register of suspects.
