“Angelo passed away last night, now the universe will be even more colorful”. Angelo Piovano, class of ’36, has died, awarded as the most tattooed man in Italy and winner of the Guinness world for being the most tattooed over 65 in the world, as stated on his website. To announce his death in the past few hours, with a few moving words, his nephew Marco Bruno.
Angelo Piovano died last night in the hospital where he had been transferred due to an illness. “Hello Angelo, we will miss you”, writes the mayor Chiara Appendino on her social page. His loss saddens the whole city and beyond. He was very well known: the first tattoo he did at 56 years after the death of his mother and her dog. Since then he has added decorations on his body, drawing 98% of them. “You have all these tattoos, and if you get tired what do you do? I sleep”, we read on social media. But there is no doubt that he was not tired this time either. Hundreds of messages and greetings. “Hello Angelo – writes Michael -. A pillar of tattooing in Italy is leaving. Thanks for having the courage to be who you wanted to be”.
