The XXII edition of the Milanesiana is back in attendance, the review conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi which this year is dedicated to “Progress” and which confirms its formula, with events that bring together different arts and disciplines. In Milan, the appointments will take place in various locations, in person, and a selection of events will also be visible on corriere.it. “There is no progress without memory”, explained Sgarbi: in fact, many events celebrate important anniversaries: Dante’s 700th anniversary, the 100th anniversary of Giorgio Strehler’s birth, but also the 40th anniversary of Carmelo Bene’s lectura dantis. “We are achieving what I have always wanted – continues Sgarbi -: an increasingly open and curious festival, without interruptions, in continuous boiling, which travels, spreads and multiplies. The Milanesiana 2021 is dedicated to Progress and therefore also to illusions, errors and missteps “. The guests are, as always, important names, such as the Strega prizes Edoardo Nesi and Sandro Veronesi, the Nobel Prize Winners Wole Soyinka and the Goncourt Michel Huellebecq and Hervé Le Tellier, and for the music Pacifico, Arto Lindsay, Paolo Fresu and others.
The opening in Milan (after the start in Sondrio on the 13th) will be Monday 14 June with the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Strehler’s birth, in “his” Piccolo Teatro Strehler: the event “Giorgio Strehler, a boy of 100”, created with Iulm, will bring together the actors and friends of the director at the theater for a memory personal. After the greetings of the councilors Stefano Bruno Galli and Filippo del Corno and the director of the Piccolo, Claudio Longhi, the “prologues” of the writer Edith Bruck and the president of the Corriere Piergaetano Marchetti Foundation open. The memories of Ottavia Piccolo, Massimo Ranieri and Ornella Vanoni follow, with Andrée Ruth Shammah, who presides over the celebrations, led by Mario Andreose and Cristina Battocletti.
