“I asked Atm to dedicate a tram of line 1 to Carla Fracci for you”, the mayor Beppe Sala had written on social media after the 84-year-old death of the étoile della Scala: “Line 1, the one that passes in front of the Scala; it will be an all white tram, with your name written discreetly. I think it’s a very Milanese way of remembering you, sober and which reaffirms our values and our qualities. Values and qualities that you, the proud daughter of a tram driver, have brought to the world. Thanks on behalf of all the Milanese and all the Milanese ». And that tram has popped up today some photos posted on social networks.
Carla’s father, Luigi Fracci, was a tram driver in post-war Milan and by tram he accompanied his child daughter to the first audition to enter the Accademia della Scala. “When I was little I used to take the tram to go to the theater: first the 13 line that took me to Piazza Fontana, then, when I moved, the 23”, said the dancer when, ten years ago, Atm used a vintage photo of the Fracci family for the 80th anniversary book of the transport company.
