It’s time for revenge, to be served cold even in the equatorial temperatures of the Riccione skating rink. A victory immediately arrived for Milano Quanta in the first round of the Final Eight of the 2021 Italian Cup of inline hockey, which will be held until tomorrow in the Romagna location where the Italian Roller Games will be held in June. The Milanese team, directed on the bench by confirmed coach Luca Rigoni, beat Real Torino 3-1 to enter the next round of the event. A hard-fought match, the one staged in Riccione, with Milano Quanta able to unlock the match with Andrea Bellini on an assist from Alessio Lettera. Before the break there is also space for the 2-0 goal of Milan, author Edoardo Caletti (winning pass by Emanuele Banchero), but also for the marking of Real Torino with Tommaso Ottino, who sent everyone to rest on the result of 2 -1 for Milan. In the second half, then, Milan exploits a numerical superiority for a penalty inflicted on Esposito going on the net for Emanuele Banchero’s 3-1 final (winning assist from Caletti).

In the next round, which will be played already today starting at 10, Milano Quanta will immediately face the Diavoli Vicenza, in an immediate remake of the Scudetto final just staged, which saw the Venetian team win 3-2 overturning an initial situation of double advantage of the Milanese, and interrupt the domination of Quanta which had lasted for a decade, with eight consecutive championships won in the last eight seasons. Jokes of fate but above all the legacy of a strange, very strange regular season: Milan is in fact the fourth seeded in the Italian Cup, precisely because it closed the first leg of the regular season in that position. The result above all of those two defeats at the table, against Vicenza and Turin, matured for the renunciation to play due to covid. Reason for which he will immediately face the winner between Diavoli Vicenza and Monleale, which ended 3-0 precisely for the Berica team.

A unique opportunity for the Milanese team, a chance to expel the defending champions from the competition. Or at least, at least partially, given that this year’s abstruse formula also includes a “repechage” path among the losers, who will compete with the concrete possibility of reaching the final. It will take two defeats, in essence, to be totally eliminated from the tournament, even if today’s match between Milan and Vicenza has a lot of flavor of reckoning.
