Seventh flambé bus of 2021: this morning, to catch fire, ending in fact destroyed – fortunately without injuries but with so much fear – an old 2004 Mercedes Urbanway in service along Via Flaminia to replace the tram 2, stopped, thanks to the programming inability of Atac and Campidoglio, for a year now due to problems with the tracks. The precedents of this year report on January 15 the first, a 2004 Citaro in service on the 916 line which was destroyed in via Pasquale II. On January 27, the second, in via Casilina: an Iveco on line 506 was destroyed. Then on February 15 a fire began on 51 in via La Spezia. Following, two cars destroyed: on February 26 a 506 in via Tuscolana and on February 28 a charred car out of service on the Grande Raccordo Anulare in Tor Bella Monaca. The sixth on May 10: at around 6 pm in Morlupo, a shuttle put on fire by Atac to replace the trains of the Rome-Viterbo railway, another pearl in the string of penalties that the Company guarantees passengers every day.
It should be noted that even the Court of Auditors, in the resolution published yesterday, expressed many reservations about the flambé buses but, if nothing else, the point is made on the number of those officially communicated by Atac: 17 in 2020, 23 in 2019 and 49 in 2018. The accounting magistrates asked Atac to provide clarifications but the Company has entrenched itself behind the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office. From the Lazio Region she attacks Chiara Colosimo: “The umpteenth bus in flames sounds like a mockery for Roman citizens. While yesterday, in fact, Raggi presented the new Atac fleet with great fanfare, today public transport discovers its true face. The lies of the Capitoline administration, as usual, have short legs. It is time to change, Rome and the Romans do not deserve to attend these spectacles “.
