In view of the summer period the mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi has ordered the prohibition in the municipal area of ​​all actions that even potentially can cause forest fires. The ordinance will be in force from June 15th to September 30th.

The provision includes a series of prohibitions including: carrying out actions that can cause even immediate danger of fire in wooded and bushy areas and in all land used for agricultural cultivation; light fires to burn scrub and vegetation residues from pastures, meadows, tree crops and abandoned land; use flame or electric appliances to burn metals, motors and stoves or incinerators that produce embers; perform other operations that may create a fire hazard.

In areas adjacent to highways, railways and major communication routes, no fires may be lit within a range of 100 meters.

There are also some provisions for entities and private owners of woods, agricultural land, meadows, pastures and uncultivated fields, who must carry out cleaning operations or create special fire protection strips to prevent the onset and spread of fires.
