The center-right has not yet managed to find the right name for the next elections for the mayor of Rome and another summit is planned to reach the square next week, with Enrico Michetti and Simonetta Matone competing head-to-head. Claudio Durigon, coordinator of the League in the Lazio Region, interviewed by Affaritaliani, tried to clarify the race to the Campidoglio: “Enrico Michetti’s is one of the important names we have in the field for the capital. The discussion is open within the coalition with Forza Italia which supports in particular the candidacy of Simonetta Matone, which from our point of view is equally valid. Let’s see the developments in the next few hours to get to the solution. I also met Michetti personally and he is certainly prepared from an administrative point of view ”.
It is therefore clear that Forza Italia lacks the yes to converge everyone on Michetti, but in any case the times will not be very long: “I really think that next Tuesday the official decision will finally arrive, we have now reached the maximum time limit to choose” Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy explained why the name of Maurizio Gasparri, another Forza Italia wild card, was not taken into consideration: “Gasparri is certainly an important person in Rome, but the center-right is choosing to focus on area candidates. We do not fear any internal competition with the Brothers of Italy, the important thing is that the center-right gets more votes than the Democratic Party coalition, given that Raggi and Movimento 5 Stelle will certainly not be a problem considering the disaster of the outgoing administration. I leave it to the pollsters, I know that we will be able to respond to the change as the Romans ask ”.
Durigon puts aside his superstition and does his best in an important preview: “I am convinced that we will win in the first round, there will be no need for a second round. And we will win both if the candidate is Michetti and if it is Matone ”.
