Meanwhile, today is the day of the green light at booking of vaccines for all age groups (here how to do it region by region). At the center of the debate is the theme of vaccines on vacation, the Health Commission ofRegioni asks that “be an exception” and the general Figliuolo calls on governors to “maximum flexibility for bookings, especially for younger classes”. In the morning there will also be a technical table between the government and the Regions on limit of 4 seats at the table in restaurants also in white area.

Italy in the white zone from 21 June (except Valle d’Aosta)

Holidays: green pass and tampons, that’s what you need

The pandemic situation is improving. The Gimbe Foundation weekly report shows a decline in all curves, infections, deaths, and hospital pressure with the decline in new weekly cases which is confirmed in all Regions – underlines Gimbe – with the exception of a percentage increase in Molise, which is irrelevant in absolute value. But there are also critical issues: in the last three weeks the number of swabs carried out fell by 34%. “Unfortunately – points out Cartabellotta – the criteria for conquering and maintaining the white zone, introduced with Legislative Decree no. 65 of 18 May 2021, discourage the Regions to strengthen testing activities and resume tracing, just when the numbers of the contagion would make it possible to use a weapon that was never properly used “.

On the inoculation front “despite the increase in deliveries in the last week – explains the president of Gimbe – to comply with the supplies envisaged by the vaccination plan by the end of June 36.3 million doses are still missing. An unrealistic number of deliveries, as we have been reiterating for weeks. “Meanwhile, as Renata Gili, Head of Research on Health Services at the Gimbe Foundation, points out, over 3.3 million people over 60 at high risk of hospitalization and death who have not even received the first dose of the vaccine. “As of June 2, the 40.3% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine (over 23.8 million people) and 20.7% have completed the vaccination cycle (more than 12.2 million), but “considering that the Regions are using almost all the doses available, the non-take-off of deliveries affects the number of administrations, now stable for a couple of weeks with the 7-day moving average which has reached 500,000 daily inoculations “.

Summary

Gimbe monitoring

From May 26 to June 1, compared to the previous week, Gimbe records a further one decrease of new cases of Covid (22,412 vs 30,867) and deaths (720 vs 1,004). There was also a sharp decline in cases currently positive (225,751 vs 268,145), people in home isolation (218,570 vs 258,265), hospitalizations with symptoms (6,192 vs 8,557) and intensive care (989 vs 1,323). The downward trend of infections for 11 consecutive weeks is confirmed, attributable, as explained by Nino Cartabellotta, president of the Gimbe Foundation, “both to the reduced circulation of the virus, as demonstrated by the reduction in the positive / cases tested ratio, and to the decrease in testing activity“In detail, the number of people tested weekly, stable until the first ten days of May, fell in the last three weeks from 662,549 to 439,467 (-33.7%).” From mid-April they are in deaths steadily decline, which in the last week averaged just over 100 per day “, underlines Cartabellotta. Vaccination coverage of the elderly and the frail also leads to progressive emptying of hospitals, as explained by Renata Gili, Head of Research on Health Services at the Gimbe Foundation. In particular, “the occupation of Covid beds nationwide stands at 10% in the medical area and 11% in intensive care, with all Regions under alert thresholds”. “The admissions to intensive care – remarks Marco Mosti, operational director of the Gimbe Foundation – have dropped from 9 weeks with a 7-day moving average of 36 admissions / day”. From the peak of April 6 – reports Gimbe – the number of beds occupied in the medical area fell from 29,337 to 6,192 (-78.9%) and those in intensive care from 3,743 to 989 (-73.6%). On the other hand, the curve of people in home isolation falls less rapidly: from the peak of March 28th they fell from 540,855 to 218,570 (-59.6%).
