He speaks Greek and Latin as well as Italian, so much so that he excelled at the Olympics of classical languages and civilizations. Adele Fraternali, 4ªB Liceo Mamiani received the congratulatory letter from Minister Patrizio Bianchi for the excellence shown in the national final. The numbers of the 9th edition, despite Covid, were considerable: 239 schools registered, 807 competitors throughout Italy, of which 543 girls. Among the 11 competing schools in the Marche region, the best in the humanities field was the classic Mamiani. Yesterday the result of the national teams arrived: Adele Fraternali, by a whisker, missed the podium, trailing her rivals and conquering the fourth place. His photo stands out on the institutional website of the competition among the best 128 “budding classicists” in Italy. “Fraternali obtained a certificate of merit from Minister Bianchi for being the best-ranked student from the Marche region in all the humanistic Olympics (Philosophy, Italian, Classical Languages)” explains Mamiani professor Simonetta Drago. “Congratulations to Adele for the excellent result – observed the headmaster Roberto Lisotti, underlining the symbolic value of the success achieved -. They have been two complex years, considering both the inconvenience caused by the dad and the change of location”. In fact, the pandemic context, to guarantee safety distancing, saw part of the Mamiani, including the 4th B, migrate to the sea, in Viale Trieste (Mamiani beach). “We are happy, as a school, to have guaranteed the right stimulus. Thus ends, with a positive sprint, the school year, hoping in the next to celebrate a return to normality”. For the second consecutive year, the National Olympics were held online. This impactful aspect, certainly limiting in making the competition attractive, did not at all slow down the motivation of the “Mamiani girls”. In addition to Adele, Erica, Serena and Vittoria also participated in the regional semifinal: all in 4ªB. The test was intense: 4 hours. Half an hour to read everything. Adele, in the national competition, preferred the track on love over that of the journey. While the regional “Mamiani girls” addressed the issue of wealth.

“The term pecunia derives from pecus, sheep – says Erica Facondini -. Enough to understand how humble are the origins of the great civilization that will be Rome, born with the shepherds on the hills of Rome”. Love for the beloved is described in the Latins and in Dante. “But regardless of whether she reciprocates or not – observes Fraternali -. I learned a lesson from it: love goes beyond being reciprocated. It is a powerful energy, however springing that feeds the human soul”. Exploring the classics in 4ªB they understood that regardless of the epochs, man remains the same: with respect to love, as well as before the value of pecuniary wealth. “It is not a trivial issue – observes Serena Paolucci – Man is hungry, he needs money to live. Over time it has materialized in different ways: first with food, then with large estates, then with money and today with the availability of information “.

In short, it is through the analysis of what has happened that the structures of living are recognized, which are not at all different from the current ones, and the critical sense for deciphering the everyday is developed. “Faced with the persistence of the same problems, the need to tackle the solutions with greater determination emerges”, says Vittoria Piermaria rightly.
