The University of Milan with the Sacco hospital and the Medical Detection Dogs Italy onlus started a trial a few months ago that used dogs to detect the coronavirus.
In light of the encouraging results obtained in the laboratories of the Veterinary Medicine department in Lodi, it was therefore decided to continue with the tests directly in the field and, for this reason, the most suitable location was identified in the drive through of the Parco Tecnologico Padano. in Lodi.
The experiment will be on a voluntary basis and to explain how it is already happening was the operations manager of the park Stefano Di Giovine: “Those who give their consent as soon as after having performed the swab will be given a card with an anonymous questionnaire and two tubes to put under the armpits for 15 minutes. It will be precisely these samples, then, who will be sniffed by trained dogs of various breeds that will be able to signal, or not, the presence of covid-19 “.
At the moment about thirty people have joined but we trust in higher numbers to reach the same degree of reliability as the dogs used in anti-drug operations.
