Roma Metropolitane and Roma Mobility Services could move towards a corporate merger. The hypothesis was put on the table of the transport committee by the councilor for the budget of the Municipality of Rome, Gianni Lemmetti. Present at the table were some RSA representatives who called the hypothesis ‘shocking’.
The announcement of the councilor for the budget Lemmetti
“The Court asks us to investigate the hypothesis of a merger of the three investee companies in the mobility sector. More generally, he asks us to proceed with a rationalization. The hypothesis on our table is to have an even more performing company with the possibility of combining at least Roma Metropolitane and the Mobility Agency. An operation that we are studying very quickly, also useful for overcoming the impasse in the efficiency of the subsidiaries “explained the delegate of the Rays junta in the committee.” Also include Atac? Everything can be done but not before the closing of the Atac agreement. On the other two, however, the channel is open and the hypothesis is that the administration can reach it in the short term.
Deputy Mayor Pietro Calabrese also expressed himself on why Atac cannot be included within the pole, arguing the need to complete the Atac path. “The reason that prevents the creation of a pole of mobility with Atac inside is the need to complete the Atac path. But we also believe that Atac should do the service while the planning is another thing”.
The Democratic Party: “When will it happen?”
The issue of the liquidation of Roma Metropolitane was instead raised by the councilor dem Ilaria Piccolo who asked for the timing. A question to which Calabrese replied, pointing out: “It is completely understandable that in a process like this the possibility of seeing the incorporation of one company into another must take place simultaneously with the closure of the liquidation of Roma Metropolitane”. Enrico Stefano also commented: “If you are actually going in the direction of a merger, I think it is necessary first to bring Roma Metropolitane back into bonis and then close the liquidation procedure against it”.
Trade union representatives: “Shocking hypothesis”
The commission was also attended by some workers and RSA union representatives. “That announced is a shocking hypothesis. This operation for us would mean skipped salaries and layoffs. A merger in two or three months is unthinkable “.
