As a Nerazzurri fan I can only be happy, but as a Milanese citizen I am once again indignant.
Yesterday we witnessed the umpteenth failure of the Mayor’s work, who takes care to inform his supporters on Instagram of the many kilometers traveled by bicycle instead of thinking about its citizens.
The joy of the Inter fans for the well-deserved Scudetto was obviously expected, and it was equally normal to think that these would bring their enthusiasm to the heart of the city in Piazza del Duomo.
But, once again, to a completely predictable event, in a still very delicate pandemic situation, which would always require the utmost attention, the municipal administration has not been able to live up to it.
And I am very sorry to read the right words of Marco Barbieri, Secretary of Confcommercio Milan: streets are fenced off in neighborhoods like Brera, restrictions are imposed on a sector – that of bars and restaurants – already heavily tried for over a year, but total freedom for thousands of people to pour into the main square to celebrate a championship without any respect for anti-Covid rules.
At the bottom of the news on TGCom 24, a reader replied to another who invited the Mayor to resign: “The serious thing is if he resigned he would be re-elected”.
I don’t think the Milanese are so careless. We will talk about it again in October.
