The case is solved. The 2.4 million euros won at the Scratch and Win by a 40-year-old Brazilian tiler resident in the province of Mantua are returned to the rightful owner. The story had aroused some perplexity since the millionaire winnings had been two and moreover realized within 20 days. For this reason, on the recommendation of the UIF (Banking Information Unit of the Bank of Italy), the Verona Public Prosecutor’s Office had opened an investigation. The first of the two wins dates back to 4 February, with a one million euro Scratch and Win purchased in a tobacconist’s in the province of Modena. On February 24, the second win of two million euros, with a ticket purchased in Garda, in the Veronese area, together with a 47-year-old who had in turn been investigated.
Scratch and win € 2.4 million: “No irregularities”
Someone had suspected that there had been a tip, but apparently there is no shadow of any wrongdoing. To confirm this, to the Corriere del Veneto, was the prosecutor Alberto Sergi who requested the dismissal of the charges. “We have carried out all possible investigations, the Guardia di Finanza has investigated every aspect, clarifying doubts and questions. No irregularities have emerged, so I decided to close the case by dismissing the accusations” said Sergi. The man defended himself by explaining that he was “a fan of the game”, and that he had “always bought whole packages of coupons in the hope of being rewarded”. The magistrates agreed with him. His was just luck. The winning money, which had been frozen by the prosecutor, will then be returned to the owner.
