Today in Nyon, Uefa made the draw for the elite phase of the European Under 19 and Under 17 championships scheduled for early next spring. This draw, whose ceremony took place between the morning and early afternoon today, was preceded by the one concerning the first qualifying phase of next year’s two category championships, editions 2022/23.
Elite phase, European Under 19 Championship, 2021/22 edition. The Under 19 national team was placed in group 5 together with Belgium, Finland and Germany. The venue for the mini qualifying tournament, which will be played by 29 March next year, will be decided by the draw that will take place in the next few days: “A challenging group – the cold comment of the Azzurro coach Carmine Nunziata – with teams that for tradition and values on the pitch are found in the European elite of youth football. I am speaking of Germany and in particular of Belgium which in the first phase reached the top of their group on equal points with Spain. We must also add that the teams that took to the field in the first phase may be subject to changes, given the large pool of players they can draw on ”. Only the first of each group – a total of 7 – will move on to the 8-team final phase which, from 18 June to 1 July, will take place in Slovakia, which has already qualified as host country. First qualifying phase, Under 19 European Championship, 2022/23 edition. The draw for next year’s UEFA European Under-19 Championship first qualifying round has decided the 13 groups that will kick off the road to the eight-team finals that will take place in Malta in 2023. Italy was included in group 5 together with Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Estonia. The mini tournaments will be played from 30 May to 14 June or from 19 to 27 September 2022 with venues still to be established.
Elite phase of the Under 17 European Championship, 2021/22. The urn placed Bernardo Corradi’s National Under 17 team in group 6 with Kosovo, Poland and Ukraine which is scheduled to take place in March next year. The groups in total are 8 and the first and the best 7 second qualify. In the next few days, the proposals to host the mini tournaments on the basis of which the gaming venues will be decided will arrive from the federations participating in Uefa. The 16-team finals will take place in Israel from May 16 to June 1, 2022.
