She was originally from Milan Elly Mattiuzzo, the 18-year-old who lost her life last night, 4 December, together with her boyfriend – the same age Daniele Volanti – in a road accident in San Marino: according to what emerged from the first reconstructions, the couple was traveling on board a long Fiat 500 the Sottomontana road, in the Borgo Maggiore area.
Elly Mattiuzzo had moved to San Marino and attended the “Volta – Fellini” artistic high school in Riccione, but in Lombardy she had taken her first steps in the world of synchronized figure skating on ice, practiced at a competitive level, obtaining great satisfaction.

With the Milanese team of the Hot Shivers, he had in fact participated in the Junior World Championships held in 2019 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. On her Instagram profile, the numerous stories that Elly had published on that occasion are still visible, from moments on the track to those of relaxation with her companions. And his friends are entrusting their messages of condolence to social media: “We will miss you, rest in peace”.
It was around 10pm when the car lost control and invaded the opposite lane. A Volkswagen coming from the opposite direction hit the front of the 500 on which the two young people were traveling. The impact was very violent, so much so that it destroyed the couple’s car. However, those driving the other vehicle were not seriously injured.
Also involved is a third car, a BMW, which arrived after the crash and hit the first two vehicles.
