School and Covid, the government rethinks it: no Dad with a single infection

With a positive in the class you go back to Dad. Indeed no. In less than 24 hours, the double turn on quarantines in schools. Late yesterday evening the joint Health-Education circular which, due to the increase in infections and difficulties in tracing, suspended the “surveillance with testing” program in place for just three weeks. Then in the afternoon the stop, with the intervention of Palazzo Chigi which brought the operation to itself after an in-depth analysis with the CTS and with the emergency commissioner Francesco Figliuolo, who guaranteed support for the tracking. The rules remain those in force: the whole class will automatically go into quarantine only if there are three positives.

Testing in schools will be stepped up

“There will be no return to Dad in the event of the presence of only one infected pupil”, government sources specified, and at the same time the structure of the extraordinary commissioner Francesco Figliuolo “will intensify testing activities in schools, in order to enhance tracing” , since “guaranteeing participation in the presence and conducting of lessons at school in absolute safety is a priority of the Government”. The circular signed last night acknowledged the worsening of the epidemic, with “a rapid and generalized increase in the number of new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection, even in school age”, with an increasing and equal weekly incidence to 125 per 100,000 inhabitants, “a value far from the optimal one of 50 per 100,000, useful for correct tracking of cases”.
