Strong earthquake off the Aeolian Islands

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale occurred at 3.52 off the coast of the Aeolian Islands, in the Southern Tyrrhenian Sea. This was reported by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, specifying that the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 5 kilometers. No damage was reported to people or things.

The earthquake, which occurred off the island of Alicudi, was warned by some inhabitants. For Nicola Capone “it was very strong”. Even Aldo Di Nora, a Vicenza man who lives in the hills, says he felt the shock “very well”, and adds that “there are no signs of damage”. Filicudi, on the other hand, seems not to have been warned.

Checks are underway by the Ingv in an area that in these days is recording the eruption of Stromboli with the lava flow that pours into the Sciara del fuoco and the emission of gas to Vulcano which forced the authorities to evacuate the port area to avoid risks to residents.
