Milan. A game to win. Italy arrived in Milan after the defeat in St. Petersburg against Russia and is ready to immediately resume the right path towards qualification for the FIBA World Cup 2023.

The press conference for the presentation of Italy-Netherlands took place in the Sala Faggio of the Hotel Sheraton Milan San Siro, scheduled for Monday 29 November at the Mediolanum Forum in Assago (8.30 pm. Live on and Sky Sport Arena).

The match against coach Maurizio Buscaglia’s “Oranje” is organized by Master Group Sport, commercial advisor of FIP. Tickets for the race are still available, on sale in all the Vivaticket network offices and on the website at the following link:

Present at the press conference were the FIP President Giovanni Petrucci, the Councilor for Sport Councilor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies of the Municipality of Milan Martina Riva, the CT Meo Sacchetti, the Captain Michele Vitali and the General Manager of Master Group Sport Antonio Santa Maria .

Thus President Petrucci: “I thank the Councilor Riva and the Mayor of Milano Sala. This has been a very good year for us. We finished fifth at the Tokyo Olympics, we are celebrating our Centenary compatibly with what is allowed by the health protocols, we met the Holy Father and the Prime Minister Mario Draghi, both passionate about our sport. We have strengthened our team with a great General Manager like Salvatore Trainotti. Monday’s match will be very important but I can’t help but be polemical towards the Euroleague, a private body that conditions the path of the national teams towards a goal as great as the Olympic Games. There have been several surprising results on this first day and undoubtedly they are the result of teams that have to do without the best players. So it is impossible to go on ”.

In office for just over a month, for Martina Riva this was one of the first official exits as Councilor of the Municipality of Milan: “I am happy and honored to bring my greetings to the Italian national basketball team, which has begun its journey towards the FIBA World Cup 2023. After the success of the expedition in Japan and the splendid quarter-finals achieved, the wish I feel I can express is that this can only be the beginning of a new and winning path, able to lead the our athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As a Milanese I am really proud that this adventure can begin in Italy right in our city, which has always been one of the homes of great basketball, also thanks to the splendid setting of the Mediolanum Forum. “

Meo Sacchetti goes back to the recent past, also recalling the importance of wearing the Azzurro: “The national team jersey is an armor. The guys have been splendid at achieving the results this summer. The national team must bring enthusiasm, which I hope will be a feeling for the players to bring back to the clubs. The national team that I would like must be coveted by everyone “.

Absent in the match against Russia, Captain Michele Vitali plays the charge for Monday’s match against Oranje: “It will be a great emotion to play again in front of our fans. In Tokyo we felt the charge of the Italians even with an 8-hour time zone. Let’s imagine what it will be like to hear them cheer the Azzurro live. Against the Netherlands it will already be very important. We want to close the window with a win. We know what we have done wrong and what we have to do ”.

These are the words of Antonio Santa Maria, General Manager of Master Group Sport: “I thank FIP and its partners for allowing the organization of this great event, in compliance with the anti-Covid 19 regulations in force. We expect a good turnout of the public and in agreement with the Federation, a policy of controlled prices has been implemented to welcome numerous families to the Forum; tickets are available on all Vivaticket platforms. An initiative has been promoted with the approval of FIP and in coordination with the Lombardy Region which will see a representation of health professionals present at the match, who have long been at the forefront, who will frame together with the public a great sport event, a prelude of the next round of EuroBasket which will always be held in Milan next September “.

The last topic of the press conference concerned the Minibasket and FIP School Sector. The Technical Manager Maurizio Cremonini presented the new editorial project entirely dedicated to the didactic proposal for the School. Before entering the focus of “Teaching EasyBasket – The FIP sports game for Primary School”, the Technical Manager wanted to underline an important number for the Minibasket Sector: “We have reached and exceeded 100,000 subscribers to the Minibasket. An important milestone for a sector that, as we know, has been severely tested in the pandemic. EasyBasket is our proposal for the School, a deconstructed proposal that allows everyone, absolutely everyone, to get closer to our splendid sport. In the book, a theoretical premise of the teaching methodology and a practical part coexist, with 40 lessons for the five classes and many explanatory videos available via QR Code “.
