The fourth wave it also arrived in Italy, albeit in a less violent way than in much of Europe. This is due to the barrier erected thanks to the vaccine, even if it will be essential to resort to the third dose to increase the level of protection from Covid in a season as “bad” as the winter one. Furthermore, the hypothesis of special restrictions for the unvaccinated is increasingly gaining ground: a way to protect those who prefer to risk dying from the vaccine and above all to avoid immobilizing the country again.
The bulletin today, Tuesday 16 November, issued by the Ministry of Health gives an account of 7,698 infected, 5,220 recovered and 74 dead compared to 684,710 swabs analyzed, with the positivity rate that was detected at 1.1 percent (-0.9 compared to yesterday, when the tests were less than 300 thousand). The curve is therefore rising after the weekend, as hospital admissions continue to increase: today the balance of hospitalized in Covid wards is +162, while that of hospitalized in intensive care is +6 compared to 41 new admissions.
In the meantime, the governors have agreed on a strategy to be presented to the government, based on the model of the lockdown for the unvaccinated developed in neighboring Austria. “As Regions we will ask the government that the restrictive measures linked to the color bands apply to unvaccinated people, not to those who have correctly vaccinated”, declared Giovanni Toti after a phone call with President Fedriga.
